The brief

Brand: ESSENTIALIST

ESSENTIALIST is a luxury, minimalist lifestyle brand with a celebrated cult following. They are defined by enduring design, perfect fit, and impeccable quality. Their customers don't buy clothes; they invest in foundational pieces that are built to last for decades. Their aesthetic is serene, refined, and anti-trend. They value provenance, sustainable production, and quiet confidence. Their communication speaks to the customer as an insider who understands the value of less, but better.

Product: The Zero-G Denim

The Zero-G Denim is our newest, premium straight-leg jean. It's designed to be the definitive, perfect straight fit. The name "Zero-G" refers to the proprietary, feather-light, Japanese selvedge denim that maintains its structure without feeling stiff or heavy, offering unmatched all-day comfort. This is denim as an elevated foundation, not a casual throw-on.

Key product benefits:

  • Timeless confidence: The perfect fit that requires no effort.

  • Investment piece: Designed to patina and improve with age.

  • Unrivaled comfort: Feather-light feel with superior structure retention.

Key product features :

  • Fabric: Proprietary 12oz Japanese Selvedge Denim.

  • Fit: Classic high-rise, universally flattering straight leg.

  • Detailing: Signature minimalist back pocket stitch, polished brass hardware.

  • Sustainability: Made using 80% recycled water in a certified ethical factory.

My approach

  • I wanted to incorporate a bit of popular culture here, so I was inspired by the hit television show The Bear and the functional, yet stylish aesthetic of chefs that has recently become widely popular. The hook for the sample poster, “non-negotiable,” is a reference to Carmy’s declaration at the start of Season 3. “Non-negotiable” also speaks to Essentialist’s customers who value investment in products with high-quality fabrics that last.

  • I also wanted all the copy to be simple and straightforward, echoing the brand’s 'less, but better' ethos. I also chose basic fonts to match this style.
